Hell on Wheels

Hell on Wheels is focused on a western ex-Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount), whose quest for revenge by Union soldiers who killed his family leads him to the city itinerant Hell on Wheels, where residents work in the construction of the First Transcontinental Railroad. Developed by Endemol USA and produced by Entertainment One and Nomadic Pictures, Hell on Wheels is created, written, and executive-produced by Joe and Tony Gayton.

The plot takes place shortly after the end of the Civil War in the United States, when peace was not the end of the animosity between the men of the north and south. With the death of Lincoln and the liberation of slaves, the United States plunged into a large project: the construction of the first transcontinental railroad.
The series has a great photo, with excellent images and soundtrack, but still lack some depth to the characters who end up looking a little shallow (perhaps with the time change thing).

Anson Mount (Conviction and the series Third Watch) is the protagonist, whose story is linked to the construction of the railroad, Dominique McElligott (Me Home?, Lunar) Lilly's Bell, a widow who fears that the railroad would bring ruin to the West, Eddie Spears (the miniseries Into the West) is Joseph, an Indian, whose goal is to ensure the safety of his people, the rapper Common plays Elam Ferguson, emancipated a mulatto slave who seeks to escape the prejudice to progress through the ranks of the railroad, Tom Noonan (of Damages) is the Reverend Nathaniel Cole, who wants to avoid a war between whites and Indians through Joseph, and Colm Meaney (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Stargate: Atlantis) is Thomas "Doc" Duncan, a character based on a historical figure real, an entrepreneur who is benefiting from the construction of the railroad.
